SEETAC’s 8th Project Meeting in Belgrade, Serbia
On January 18th, 2012 SEETAC's 8th Project
Meeting took place in Belgrade, Serbia. The meeting was organised
by the Office of the President of the Republic of Serbia in
cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
Mr. Dejan Lasica, Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Energy
opened the meeting with his welcoming speech, stressing the
importance of the project for Serbia in view of improving regional
cooperation and of playing a leading role in the Western Balkan
Region. He spoke about the main infrastructural achievements in
Serbia made in the last year and also about those forthcoming.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Alain Baron, from the European
Commission, DG Move who expressed the importance of the project for
the EC. He also offered full support to the SEETAC partners in the
completion of the Multimodal traffic scenarios through the TEN-TEC
database.
The meeting dealt with the main results deriving from the data
collection, traffic flows in SEE area in the existing and future
situation, as well as the results on the transport model. Partners
discussed on the next modeling activities for the definition of
future scenarios, selection of scenario pilot projects for which
possible funding opportunities will be identified.
The SEETAC project is approaching the end of the its duration
and therefore the remaining activities were discussed and
programmed in order to produce all foreseen outputs and
results.
Finally, partners decided upon the next events to be held and
organized by the end of June: third Ministerial Conference in
Athens, Investors Conference and the Final Conference.
The next Ministerial Conference will take place together with
the Investors Conference in Athens on May 15th,
2012.
